Calculator inputs and browser saving
Tax estimates run in your browser. Saving an offer comparison stores the entered amounts on this device. Use “Reset and clear saved data” on the offer comparison to remove it. Downloaded reports contain your inputs; you control those files.
Shared calculation links
Calculation links include income, residence, filing status and tax year in the URL. Anyone with the link can read those values. They may also appear in browser history, hosting logs and page analytics. Links to related calculators carry these values forward. Share hypothetical amounts if you do not want to disclose your income. Clearing a saved calculation does not revoke links you have already shared.
Optional income research
When income research is available, an unchecked checkbox lets you choose to contribute future submissions. We save annual income, tax location, calculator type, submission time, model year and consent version in a separate database. Job-offer income includes salary, annual bonus, annual sellable RSUs and the signing bonus. We do not add names, emails, IP addresses or persistent visitor identifiers to these income records. Research does not require signing in.
These are unverified calculator inputs, which may be examples or hypothetical offers, not verified salaries. They must not be described as representative salary statistics. Records expire after 180 days through the database’s periodic deletion process. Turning the checkbox off stops future contributions; it does not identify or delete prior records. Hosting and security systems may separately process request information.
Usage analytics
The site uses PostHog and Vercel analytics. Existing calculation and city-comparison analytics events can include entered income and location, separately from the optional research database. Choosing not to contribute to research does not switch off existing analytics.
Offer assistant
If the offer assistant is available and you send a message, your message and the current offer fields are sent to OpenAI to generate a reply and proposed field changes. The assistant is optional. Review its entries before calculating. We do not save the chat in the income research database.
